This is a vintage Westpoint muscle bike from the late 1960's to early 1970's. This AMF built drag bike has the standard musclebike look - heavy back end with a fat slick, banana seat, and sissy bar and a lighter front end with a smaller tire and ape hanger handlebars. This bike has some issues, but the frame is all there without any major issues other than scrapes, scratches, and rust where the paint is missing. There's not alot of info on this bike which leads to a vague "what's original and what's not".
The frame is very unique - the rear dropouts are extremely tall - they go up about 9" and are holed. The seat stays then mount horizontally to them. At the seattube, the twin toptubes and seat stays meet at a horizontal tube welded perpendicularly to the seat tube. Very nice, very slick.
We are guessing that the bike is mostly original, but have doubts on the handlebars, blue Hunt Wilde grips (almost new shape), and front wheel - which all look like they come from a Schwinn (front tire is a Schwinn 20x1 3/4" Westwind).
Sissy bar is 47" long and in good shape.
The bike has not been repainted with the original color in a bright blue. Most of the original decals are on the bike but in rough shape. Unfortunately, there is no model name anywhere, and the headbadge decal is starting to peel and is 1/4 missing. The seat matches fairly well, with the white/blue fade/white color, and its in great shape.
The cranks/chainring guard/pedals are all in rough shape, but usable. Rusting and needing some tlc.
The rear wheel seems original, but it has been painted gloss white sometime in the past. The hub is a Bendix model 70. It has a newer Veith extra prima 20" white striped slick on the rim. Good shape.
Overal, its rideable, but needs quite a bit of work to make it showworthy, and we definitely suggest a tune-up before any riding...
