Whats New With BudgetBicycleCenter.Com?

The developer at Budget Bicycle Center has been busy updating this site.  With an emphasis on Web 2.0, CSS3, AJAX, Open Source Software and a little Cloud Computing - we are happy to bring you one the most powerful and robust cycle shops online.  Below is a log of new technologies or features we have released.

11/27/2010 - We rolled out our new website layout, upgraded our backend, cleaned up our damaged database.  We made connecting to your favorite social sites easier, while improving the user experience with jQuery .  The checkout got a lot easier and we added UPS as a shipping carrier.  We like to blog, so we merged a Wordpress blog system into our CMS.  We enhanced our site's search visibility so you can find us in the Google results a lot more often.  We added Gift Certificates to our online catalog.  The ability to navigate through our catalog with a layer based filtering system was added.

1/19/2011 - We upgraded our mysql backend to secure more resources, providing quicker page loads.  We will be moving to a dedicated server in Feb. 2011 to further improves page load times.

1/21/2011 - Addition of QR bar codes on a Google cloud for all of our online products- to be used on smartphones for quick access to our site content.  We are currently loading our new parts and accessories catalog, which should be accessible via the top menu very soon.  We added a Download Page as PDF option in our product detail page, a plus if your into archiving vintage bicycle and part information or love to print everything on the web.  We also reduced the number of pages considered by Google as duplicate content with the use of canonical meta tags on such pages, providing better ranking for our more popular pages.

1/31/2011 - We migrated our site to a dedicated server - decreasing page load times by over 500%. This will fix all previous order processing errors, "SQL server has gone away" errors and timeout errors you may have encountered- Providing extreme performance while you shop Budget Bicycle Center Online.

7/4/2011  -  Happy 4th of July!  To add some pop to our site, we tweaked our database variables and cache settings to minimize pageload latency.  Now we are faster than ever! (75% faster than before)

7/5/2011 - We have added Content Delivery Network (CDN) to cache our static content.  We are happy to be in the Cloud making your pages load even faster using less energy world-wide.

8/2/2011 - We added Full Screen mode for our Product Photo Gallery Viewer and added performance on iPads or touch devices.  We also added a new Filter/Category slide control for our layered catalog pages. 

8/3/2011 - We have added scalable virtualization technology (global Edge servers) and RDBS  to our infrastructure.  You will probably notice even more speed improvements.  We also reduced 20% of our html document size. We also updated our AJAX librariy to latest, providing even quicker functionality on your favorite web browsers or touch devices.

12/17/2014 - We rolled out a HTML5 mobile version of our website and refreshed the home page.
