Details
You are buying a vintage and mostly original 1969 Schwinn Slik Chik muscle bike, a cool entry into the 60's - 70's muscle-bike craze popularized by the Schwinn Sting-Ray. Ape hanger handlebars and a banana seat with sissy bar are the trademarks of this style, and the Slik Chik flaunts it. As the name indicates, this is a girl's bicycle with a step-through frame and violet color scheme. An upgrade from its sister the Fair Lady, Slik Chik features a silver-striped Sting Ray seat. The rear rim is a Schwinn tubular S-2, and the front is an S-7. A sweet-looking survivor from a unique era in bicycle history.
The violet paint is scratched and rusted in spots, as is the chrome of the handlebars. The grips are in rough shape. The chrome fenders are surprisingly undented, though the rear one isn't perfect. This bike came with white trim but the chain guard's lettering is faded, as are all the decals. While the rims are in fine shape, the spokes are rusting and the tires are cracked. The saddle has cracks and the plastic is misshapen in spots.
The rear hub is a Bendix 2 speed yellow band kickback automatic hub.
This bicycle has not been tuned up by us, and we do suggest before riding that a professional bicycle shop does a full tune on it.
