Details
You could be the proud owner of this vintage 1991 Miyata Seven14 road bicycle. Hand built in Japan in 1991 this bike features a full indexed "click" shifting Shimano Exage 500EX parts group and a lightweight aluminum frame with internal cable routing. Perfect for the smaller road rider or collector, this bicycle is looking for a new home and it could be yours.
Miyata was founded by Eisuke Miyata, a gunsmith employed by the Hitachi Kuni Kasama Clan. Miyata built Japan's first conventional, modern bicycle at the Miyata Gun Factory in 1892. He recognized the future of gun manufacturing in Japan was not strong, and got the idea for a new bike design after being asked by a foreigner to repair a conventional bicycle. Unlike modern-day bicycles, it was built from proprietary tubing in the same factory where guns were made. The tubing was bored out lengthwise using a round steel rod, mean the inside of the tube is rifled like a gun barrel. Many say Miyata pioneered triple butting, and revolutionized frame building techniques. The first Miyata’s were bolt-upright town bikes. Over the decades, Miyata established a good foothold in the bicycle market, becoming contracted by multiple local brands to build their bicycles and ultimately attracting Panasonic Corporation to become a shareholder in 1959.
BIKE CONDITION
The bike is in very good overall condition and free of bends, cracks and corrosion. The Night Sky paint still has a good luster to it with very few small marks and scratches to be found throughout the bike. The bike appears to be original with the exceptions of the front wheel, pedals, new Panaracer Pasela Club tires and bar tape.
This bike has been fully tuned by a shop mechanic with many years of experience. Then the bike was given a thorough eighty three point inspection by the owner. Finally the owner rides the bicycle checking steering, braking and shifting. After you receive this bicycle minimal adjustments and assembly will be needed to be ready to ride.
This bicycle is being sold as is, please see photographs for details.
