Giant has done plenty to make us give bicycles a second look, and the Escape RX Composite grabs attention. Instead of aluminum, the frame is made from Giant’s own carbon fiber composite material. The fork is also Giant’s Advanced-grade carbon fiber, making for a supremely light and nimble chassis, The frame shaping not only reduces weight, but also produces a sublime ride quality. With two bottle cage mounts and rear rack mounts, the Escape RX Composite is as effective at commuting as it is on a metric century. With clearance for 32mm tires front and rear, the Escape can also be equipped with cyclocross tires to handle unpaved rails-to-trails surfaces.

Shimano 10-speed shifters and derailleurs keep every gear choice at your fingertips, while a 34/48T compact Shimano crankset and 11-34T cassette produce a very wide gearing range for all kinds of terrain. Tektro V-brake calipers and levers reign in speed easily while giving lots of tire clearance for muddy conditions. Giant’s own lightweight P-R2 alloy wheels are wrapped with flat-resistant 28mm tires for easy speed. With a composite seatpost, Contact saddle, alloy bar and stem, the Escape RX Composite might be one of the lightest road-oriented hybrids we have.
