The Giant Defy Composite 2 might be your best value in a carbon fiber endurance road bike. Featuring a longer wheelbase and taller head tube than the racier Giant TCR series, the Defy is ready to take on miles of pavement both good and bad, hills both tame and terrible. The Defy Composite 2’s frame is produced in-house by Giant and is molded from T-600 raw carbon fiber for lightness and torsional strength. The PowerCore press-fit bottom bracket anchors the bike’s crankset for out-of-the-saddle sprints with no power-robbing flex. The fork is an entirely composite unit and has a tapered OverDrive steerer tube, enhancing handling feel in fast corners and faster descents. The teardrop seat tube and Vector Composite seatpost keeps the air managed around the rear wheel for battling headwinds. The Defy Composite 2 uses Shimano’s 10-speed 105 components are used in the drivetrain, including the dual-control shifters and both derailleurs for smooth and trouble-free operation. A Shimano 50/34T compact crankset and 12-30T cassette provide a huge gearing range to help you tackle roller-coaster hills on all-day “challenge rides”. Giant’s P-R2 alloy wheels are shod with 25mm P-R3 tires for confident grip and a smooth ride. A Giant Connect alloy stem and handlebar are matched with a Vector Composite seatpost and Performance Road saddle for comfort and control.
