Felt has been producing aero road bikes for years, and bring experience to the category. The 2015 AR5 takes that experience and adds Shimano’s most affordable 11-speed component group to a versatile, high-performance aero frame. The AR5’s frame is constructed of Felt’s UHC Performance carbon fiber, using their own InsideOut molding process to ensure consistent light weight, ride quality and strength. The frame’s BB30 bottom bracket anchors the Shimano crankset effectively for lightning-quick pedaling response. The rear brake caliper sits below the bottom bracket, tucking it out of the airstream, while the frame has internal cable routing for mechanical or electronic shifting. The same UHC carbon fiber is used in the 1-1/8"-to-1-1/4" tapered fork from dropouts to the top of the steerer, ensuring light weight and effectively soaking up fatiguing vibration. Using a UHC carbon fiber aero seatpost, the fit of the AR5 can be altered for use with aero bars by flipping the unit 180 degrees. The 3T DiffLock™ internals hold the saddle rails on the post with confidence, eliminating worries of slippage over rough pavement. The post is held in the frame with Felt’s InterLoc integrated clamp, with no risk of slippage.

The updated and lighter Shimano 105 group not only gained an extra cog in back, it also reduced total group weight, and reduced the effort needed to shift the front chainring. A new, lighter 4-armed 52/36T semi-compact crankset is paired with a 12-25T cassette for attacking race-day courses and favorite training hills alike. Shimano’s new 105 shifters operate front and rear derailleurs with precision, even under hard pedaling loads. 105 multi-pivot brake calipers reign in speed, clamping onto Felt’s alloy aero road R3 wheels. 23mm Vittoria Rubino Pro Slick tires keep grip levels high for fast corners and twisty descents. Butted aero stainless steel spokes reduce drag further. A Prologo Zero saddle is matched with an alloy aero road handlebar and alloy stem to complete the cockpit.
