Giant’s line of Defy carbon fiber road bicycles takes a step up to disc brakes, and the Defy Advanced 2 is a value leader. Built around an Advanced-grade composite frame and fork, the Defy Advanced 2 is not only light but also surprisingly compliant over rough pavement. An OverDrive tapered steerer tube keeps handling sharp, especially in fast curves. The Defy’s D-Fuse composite seat post helps soak up harsh vibration and impacts from railroad tracks and expansion joints. The tall head tube of the Defy Advanced 2 allows for a more upright position, providing a comfortable posture for a wider range of rider sizes and flexibilities. The Wheelbase is slightly longer than Giant’s TCR series, giving a stable feel on choppy blacktop.

Giant’s Defy Advanced 2 is equipped with Shimano’s latest 11-speed 105 components, with a list of improvements beyond an extra rear cog. The front derailleur has been redesigned for easy shifts with less effort. The dual-control levers have a wider range of reach adjustability for smaller hands. The rear derailleur is torsionally stiffer, allowing for quicker shifts under heavy loads. The 11-28T rear cassette and Shimano compact 50/34T crankset offers a huge gearing range, yet smaller jumps between each cog. Stopping power is achieved with TRP's cable-actuated Spyre disc brakes clamping 160mm rotors. Giant’s own P-R2 alloy wheels are shod with 25mm P-R3 front and rear specific tires for light weight and confident grip. A Giant Performance road saddle sits atop the D-Fuse seatpost for a comfortable perch, while alloy Contact road handlebars and Connect stem complete this century-ready machine.
