2014 Trek Superfly 8
Colors: Viper Red/Gloss White
Sizes: 17.5"
This is Trek’s best cross-country aluminum hardtail for 2014. The Superfly 8’s 29’er geometry matches that of the machines used in the World Cup, giving it perfect balance and agility on rough singletrack. A hydroformed and custom-butted Alpha Platinum aluminum frame makes a rigid and feather-light chassis that responds to every pedal stroke and steering input. The Superfly 8’s E2 head tube is tapered to keep the front end tracking through rock gardens, while Closed Convert thru-axle rear dropouts improve torsional rigidity under hard pedaling. Internal cable routing keep the derailleur cables out of the elements. The Superfly 8’s suspension fork is an air-adjustable Fox Evolution Series 32 Float unit for perfect tune-ability and long service life. The CTD (climb-trail-descend) damper and adjustable rebound produce effective grip on rough and choppy trails, while a 15mm thru-axle reduces instability at the front wheel in technical sections. The fork’s 100mm of travel keep bike and rider pointed down the trail when roots and rocks try to slow you down.
The components are a mix of Shimano’s 10-speed SLX shifters, 38/24T crankset and front derailleur along with an XT Shadow Plus rear derailleur for lightning-quick operation, light weight and rugged durability. A Shimano 11-36T cassette provides a wide gearing range for hilly terrain. Bontrager’s alloy tubeless-ready Mustang wheels are shod with 2.2x29 XR1 tires. Bontrager components are also found at the Race Lite alloy handlebars, stem and seatpost, while an Evoke 2 saddle completes the cockpit. Come in and see this machine for yourself!
