Every once in awhile, we come across a rare machine: The Trek Superfly FS 7. No, you won’t find it on Trek’s US website, because the Superfly FS 7 is sold in Britain. Why there and not here? Good question! Photo shoot bikes ride just fine! The bike is a fantastic value, using the same super-light hydroformed Alpha Platinum Aluminum frame as the Superfly FS 9, this bike starts with the right chassis to build a real speed machine. A tapered head tube for flex-free confident cornering, press-fit bottom bracket and even internal cable routing for an optional dropper seat post make this a bike with useful details. The rear suspension features an Active Braking Pivot -or ABP- that keeps the rear suspension active under hard braking. A RockShox Monarch RL shock gives the bike 100mm of rear suspension travel. The suspension fork is also a RockShox unit: An air-adjustable Reba RL with 100mm of travel and a 15mm thru-axle to keep the front wheel planted in technical terrain.

SRAM’s 10-speed X7 components are found throughout the drivetrain, including the shifters and derailleurs for lightning-quick operation, even in muddy conditions. A SRAM S1000 38/24T crankset is paired with an 11-36T cassette for a massive gearing range to help take on roller-coaster singletrack. Bontrager’s alloy Mustang 29’er wheels are shod with 2.2” XR1 Expert tires for confident grip. Reigning in speed is the job of Shimano’s M445 hydraulic disc brakes. Bontrager also brings alloy handlebars, stem, seatpost and an Evoke 2 saddle to the Superfly FS 7.
