Disc brakes appearing on cyclocross bikes have been seen as a pro-only option, but not any longer. The Felt F65X brings disc brakes to your ‘cross rig at a very affordable price! Built around a butted 7000-series aluminum frame and carbon fiber fork, the “skeleton” of the F65X is light and responsive, using a tapered steerer tube for maximum control on rough and twisty courses. SRAM’s quick-shifting 10-speed components are used for the drivetrain, including a SRAM Rival rear deraiileur and Apex DoubleTap shifters and front derailleur. Power is transferred through a super-stiff SRAM S300 46/38T crankset with a BB30 bottom bracket. Wheels are built with a tall-profile alloy CXR3 rim with a 6-bolt hub mount for Avid’s BB5 cable-actuated disc brakes. Vittoria XG 32mm cyclocross tires provide effective control over messy courses and dirt paths. Nice touches include a flattened top tube for easy shouldering, Teflon-coated inner cables with all-weather sealing, and a SRAM 11-28T cassette for when the hills get steep.
