Revolt is a new line from Giant focusing on riders who want a do-anything machine with an emphasis on comfort and versatility. The Revolt’s upright fit allows for an easier fit for a wider range of riders and flexibilities. With a hydroformed ALUXX SL-grade aluminum frame and composite carbon fiber fork, weight is reduced with no sacrifice in strength. Useful touches abound on the Revolt 1, such as dual bottle cage mounts, rack mounts and fender mounts. Full-length cable housing is covered with an X-Defender downtube guard for resisting corrosion and shedding road gunk. Shimano’s 10-speed dual control brake/shifters and derailleurs make shifting easy from the hoods or “drops”, while a 48/34T crankset and 11-34T cassette provide a massive range of gears for conquering the worst inclines. Tektro bar-top brake levers give an extra hand position for stopping while in city traffic. Reigning in speed is easy with the Revolt 1, thanks to a set of Avid BB7 cable-acutated disc brake calipers. Giant’s own S-X2 alloy wheels are wrapped with 35mm tires (and can be fitted with rubber as wide as 50mm) depending on how rough the trails or potholes are expected to get. A Giant Connect composite seatpost is topped with a Contact saddle for a comfortable perch, while shallow-drop alloy road bars make for an easy transition from hybrid bicycles for the first-time roadie.
