"The snow is no place for a bicycle" says your common sense. "But the couch is no place to live" says your sense of adventure.

Even in the dead of winter, you don't have to stop riding. Trek's Farley fatbikes open up new possibilities if you're willing to get a bit more bundled up. The Farley 5 is their entry-level fatbike, but it isn't a basic machine. Far from it. The Farley's Alpha Platinum aluminum frame and fork have been hydroformed and butted to enhance torsional strength while keeping weight down. A press-fit PF121 bottom bracket anchors the crankset for flex-free power delivery during out-of-the-saddle charges. Out back, the Farley's Stranglehold adjustable dropouts feature a thru-axle skewer, also reducing drivetrain flex. The dropouts can be moved 15mm, altering geometry for trail conditions and different tire sizes. Up front, a 1-1/8"-to-1-1/2" tapered head tube gives the Farley a more precise feel on technical trails. Extrnal hydraulic brake cable routing makes for easy servicing, while internal shifter cable routing improves reliability in messy conditions. Bottle mounts add to the Farley's versatility.

Huge 26x4.7" Bontager Barbegazi Team Issue tires make the Farley 5 a real perfromer in snowy or sandy conditions. An aramid bead reduces rotating mass, while a supple 120tpi casing allows the tire carcass to flow over undulating trails. Wrapped around SUNringle's Mulefut alloy 32-spoke rims, the Farley 5's tires can carry you down snow-covered trails and across sand dunes. Shimano 10-speed Deore shifters, rear derailleur and SRAM X5 front derailleur handle shifting duties, while a Race Face Ride 36/22T crankset helps you deliver power. A Shimano 11-36T cassette offers a huge gearing range for slushy conditions and steep hills. Slowing down the whole package are a pair of hydraulic SRAM DB1 disc brakes, bringing excellent lever feedback as well as high performance in cold conditions. Bontrager's Evoke 1.5 saddle, alloy seatpost, handlebar and Blendr stem complete this all-conditions adventurer.
