The Top Fuel name is still regarded as a performance milestone. Astonishing lightness, cat-like agility and breathtaking performance made the Trek Top Fuel a leader in cross-country racing around the world. Now, Trek has redesigned the Top Fuel for 2016 with larger wheel sizes, an even lighter frame and a pro-level component list.
The Trek Top Fuel builds on the lessons learned from the Superfly F/S when it comes to optimized weight, high strength and race-ready geometry. Building the Top Fuel with Trek's exclusive OCLV Mountain carbon fiber ensured lightness blended with rugged construction. Trek's Full Floater rear suspension has been used on the Fuel EX line of trail bikes with 120mm of travel. The 2016 Top Fuel gets a shorter and lighter 100mm suspension travel for cross-country racing. Full Floater anchors the rear shock with two moving pivots, allowing it to respond to washboard bumps as well as rougher rock gardens. Better bump response equals better control. The ABP (Active Braking Pivot) rear suspension pivot allows the rear suspension to be totally unaffected by hard braking, especially during technical, rocky downhill sections. This exclusive technlogy allows for much later braking with confidence. A tapered head tube gives the Top Fuel a more precise feel in technical singletrack, allowing the rider to be more selective when choosing a racing line. A reverseable Mino Link at the top of the Magnesium EVO Link suspension pivot can adjust the bike's geometry for short events or long endurance races.
The Trek Top Fuel needed a suspension package worthy of the machine. Rock Shox came to the party with an air-adjustable Monarch XX rear shock and an air-adjustable SID XX. The fork boasts a remote lockout lever, spacing for a Boost 110 hub and a 15mm thru-axle. The rear unit also features a remote lockout with internal cable routing.
SRAM's X1 shifter, X01 carbon fiber rear derailleur, PC 1130 chain and X1 32T single-ring crankset have been whittled down for light weight while still being incredibly durable. The 10-42T SRAM rear cassette has also been relieved for optimum weight reduction. A DT Swiss X1700 wheelset has been built for the Top Fuel's Boost 110/148 spacing, reducing weight while adding torsional strength for attacking rock gardens with confidence. The X1700's are tubeless-ready, and are shod with 2.0" tubeless-ready Bontrager XR1 Team Issue tires for aggressive grip. Shimano's XT hydraulic disc brakes hep reign in speed easily. A Bontrager Rhythem Elite seatpost is topped with a Ti-railed Montrose Elite saddle, while an OCLV carbon fiber handlebar and alloy Race X Lite stem complete the cockpit of this trail-taming racer.
This bicycle can be configured with Trek's Project One website, offering millions of options. Components, wheels, suspension and even custom paint can be added. Please call for details.
