Aluminum bikes were the original ultra-light machines. Now with more ways to manipulate aluminum than ever before, the category is making more sense for the budget-minded. Trek's 300 Series Alpha aluminum starts with hydroformed tubes that have been custom-shaped for different frame sizes, keeping the ride quality smooth, no matter how large or small the bike or rider. New Invisible Weld technology reduces the need for excess frame material, and keeps the Emonda ALR looking clean and sleek. The tapered H2 head tube anchors the fork for a more precise feel, giving the Emonda ALR better handling on fast descents and during hard braking. A BB86.5 press-fit bottom bracket keeps the crankset feeling rock-solid, ensuring energy isn't wasted during uphill sprints. An aperture for an ANT+ DuoTrap S speed/cadence sensor (sold separately) is found in the left chainstay, eliminating the need for zip-ties. The carbon fiber Emonda fork keeps weight down further and reduces road buzz on rough and choppy pavement.

Shimano's recently redesigned 11-speed 105 components are found throughtout the Emonda ALR 5. The adjustable-reach dual-control levers, derailleurs, multi-pivot brakeset, compact 50/34T crankset and 11-28T cassette are all 105 units for complete integration and exceptional performance. Bontrager's alloy tubeless-ready wheels are wrapped with 23mm Bontrager R1 Hard-Case Lite tires for easy acceleration and effective grip. Bontrager also supplies the alloy seatpost, alloy road handlebar, stem and paradigm Race saddle.
