A featherweight road bike that shifts perfectly, rides smoothly, handles like a dream and fits perfectly? Trek has everything peformance riders have asked for in one bicycle: The Silque SSL.

The design team for Trek's Silque road bicycles knew that a comfortable fit alone wasn't answering all the demands of female performance riders. Ride quality was also paramount to female cyclists. The design team set about looking at how their proprietary OCLV carbon fiber could be used to make every mile easier with lighter weight and a more refined ride. How much lighter? About 120 grams lighter compared to a similar-sized Domane WSD. Building a bike with heavy, stone-hard carbon fiber construction might be useful for a powerful 180lb sprinter, but not for a lighter rider. Trek's OCLV 600 Series carbon fiber has been shaped into frame tubes with an eye towards a lighter female rider, and not a heavier "Joe Average" rider. The Silque SSL's Ride Tuned seat mast and ingenious IsoSpeed decoupler smoothes out rough and choppy pavement, keeping the rider fresher over more miles. Fatigue reduction allows a rider to keep focused on the road ahead, and be less likely to make mistakes. The Silque SSL's tapered head tube and all-carbon fork adds a more precise handling quality, espcially during fast turns and descents. Finally, the frame of the Silque SSL is built with Trek's WSD geometry, guaranteeing a better all-around fit for female riders that find average geometry bikes ill-fitting. Useful touches abound on the Silque SSL:

An aperture for an ANT+ DuoTrap speed/cdence sensor (not included) in the left chainstay eliminates the need for zip-ties

A 3S integrated chain keeper prevents dropped chains from ruining a long ride

A BB90 press-fit bottom bracket anchors the crankset for flex-free pedaling, especially during steep out-of-the-saddle climbs

Internal cable routing keeps the Silque SSL looking clean

 Shimano's latest 11-speed electronic Shimano Ultegra Di2 shifting is found on the Silque SSL. No mechanical cables are needed to operate the derailleurs. Instead, electronic motors move the derailleurs, providing perfects shifts. Every. Single. Time. Operating the shifters is as easy as clicking a mouse, so riders with less hand strength (or just small hands) never have problems changing gears. Expected battery life between recharges is about 800-900 miles. The Silque SSL has Shimano's Ultegra Di2 components throughout the bike, including the 50/34T compact crankset, 11-28T cassette, chain, Di2 derailleurs, adjustable-reach shifters and multi-pivot brake calipers. Bontrager's alloy Race Lite tubeless-ready wheels are shod with 23mm Bontrager R3 Hard-Case Lite tires for easy acceleration and confident grip. Bontrager also supplies the carbon-railed Ajna Pro WSD saddle, OCLV carbon Race X Lite IsoZone handlebar and alloy Race X Lite stem.
