When the Domane was first built by Trek, it would find a home in the cobblestones and rough pavement of Northern Europe. Rain, mud and "pasture runoff" were frequently encountered on the way to victories large and small. When disc brakes made their way to road bicycles and the pro peloton began to use them, it resulted in better control and increased confidence from the riders. Now Trek has a new version of the Domane 6-Series with Shimano's latest road disc brakes.
The Domane 6-Series is an effective weapon when going into battle with steep climbs, choppy blacktop and long miles. The heart of the Domane 6.2 Disc is an OCLV 600-Series carbon fiber frame that boasts astonishing lightness as well as immense torsional strength. Both are good to have on your side when dealing with steep inclines and charging out-of-the-saddle for the summit. The BB90 press-fit bottom bracket anchors the crankset, eliminating energy-robbing flex. An all-carbon OCLV fork soaks up vibration, and boasts an E2 tapered steerer for a more precise feel in high-speed corners and during hard braking. The fork's 15mm thru-axle ensures proper rotor alignment and an added dash of torsional stiffness. Power Transfer Construction adds a snappier feel when powering away from your riding buddies, or tackling a steep hill that suddenly gets steeper. The Domane's major innovation is found at the IsoSpeed decoupler at the seat tube/top tube juncture. The decoupler allows the Domane to be much more vertically compliant that the competition's machines, allowing the rider to remain seated during hard efforts and not tire as quickly. Instead of a seat post, the Domane 6.2 Disc uses a Ride Tuned seat mast and cap to enhance the ride quality further. No cutting with a hacksaw is required, and the seat cap is available in two lengths and two offsets for a perfect fit. When attacking a sector of cobblestones -or just a bad set of railroad tracks- a bouncing chain can derail, ruining a good ride. The Domane's 3S integrated chain keeper eliminates that problem as well. An aperture for an ANT+DuoTrap speed/cadence sensor (sold separately) is found in the left chainstay, making for the cleanest installation in the industry. The rear dropout is also a 142x12mm thru-axle, bringing additional torsional strength to the frame. Even vanishing fender mounts make the Domane 6.2 Disc an excellent commuter bike! The Domane's taller head tube allows an easy fit for a wider range of riders and flexibilities, making it one of our most popular models.
Shimano's latest Ultegra 6800 derailleurs, 50/34T compact Ultegra crankset and 11-28T Ultegra cassette are operated with a set of Shimano RS685 dual-control levers that are also hydraulic-ready. Smooth shifting, durability and light weight are part of the Ultegra component family, and the hydraulic brakes add a new level of perfomance to the Domane 6-series. Muddy rims? Driving rain? No problem! Stopping power is uniform, no matter the conditions. The RS685 calipers and 160mm rotors are fade-resistant during mountain descents and feature finned brake pads for heat dispersion. The alloy Bontrager Affinity Comp wheelset is tubeless-ready and is wrapped with 25mm Bontrager R3 Hard-Case Lite tires for confident grip. Bontrager also supplies the Ti-railed Paradigm RL saddle, alloy Race Lite IsoZone handlebar and alloy Race X Lite stem.
A discounted bike fit session with a member of our helpful and knowledgeable staff is included with the purchase of this bicycle. Components can be substituted at an additional cost. Please call for details.
