When a road bike with aero bars seems to hold you back, perhaps it's time for a real triathlon machine: The Felt B16

Felt has taken the knowledge gained from some of their finest triathlon/TT bikes and used it to create one of the more affordable entries in the market. The frame shape of the B16 has gone through wind tunnel testing and computational fluid dynamic (or CFD) testing before a single bike has been created. Then Felt used their UHC Performance carbon fiber for impressive strength, ensuring energy isn't wasted on flexing the bike with each pedal stroke. Clever details keep the B16's drag numbers low, like internal cable routing, a teardrop seatpost and hiding the rear brake caliper under the bottom bracket. Even the carbon fiber fork blades are aerodynamically tuned to cheat the wind.

The B16 needed an affordable components that also boasted high performance. Shimano's 10-speed 105 derailleurs function with lightning-quickness and can endure years of use. MicroShift bar-end shifters are found on the aero bars for fingertip operation, while an FSA Vero 52/36T crankset helps deliver power. The 11-28T rear cassette offers a wide gearing range for steep inclines. An alloy base bar and 8-way adjustable aero bars can be dialed in for effective aero fitting. A tri-bike's wheels can be a make-or-break element of the whole machine, and the deep-section alloy hoops of the B16 help it to carve through the air. 23mm Vittoria Zaffiro Slick tires keep grip levels high in fast turns. A tri-specific saddle finishes off this speed machine.
