Aluminum road bikes continue to evolve, making strides in reducing weight and improving ride quality. Trek's 1.2 is leading the charge in how an aluminum road bike can be made even better.

The frame of the Trek 1.2 is a major step up from round-tubed machines of the past, using hydroforming to keep weight down but still enhance overall frame strength and ride quality. A flattened top tube and Kammtail down tube not only reduce weight, but improve the road feel and aerodynamics. Triathlons, anyone? Fender, rack and bottle mounts make the Trek 1.2 a versatile steed for commuting and day trips. A carbon fiber fork not only reduces weight but also smoothes out rough and choppy pavement. The H2 fit of the 1.2 offers a tall head tube to accommodate a wider range of riders and flexibilities.

Shifting duties are covered with Shimano's 9-speed Sora dual-control levers and derailleurs. An FSA Vero 50/34T compact crankset and 11-28T cassette add a huge gearing range for tackling steep climbs and descents. Bontrager's lightweight alloy wheels are tubeless-ready and are wrapped with 23mm Bontrager T1 tires for confident grip in high-speed corners. A new Bontrager Paradigm 1 saddle sits atop an alloy seatpost, while an alloy Bontrager Race VR-C road handlebar and alloy Elite Blendr stem complete the cockpit.
