Trek's new Zektor line began with the idea that urban riding and city commuting should be fun with a minimum of mechanical hassle. That concept is demonstrated with the new Zektor I3. An Alpha Gold aluminum frame is the heart of this bike, keeping weight down and putting the rider in a slightly more aggressive posture than everyday hybrid bikes. That enhances the bike's handling, making the Zektor I3 a nimble choice for commutes and cross-town rides. With fender and rack mounts, the Zektor I3 can take on accessories for practical trips, shopping or just fun rides to the park. The best part of the Zektor I3's drivetrain is the composite belt drive that replaces the metal chain. With no need for lubrication and a lifespan of tens of thousands of miles, the Zektor I3's belt drive is designed to last as long as the rest of the bike. A belt tensioner at the rear hub makes wheel removal much easier than previous 3-speed hubs. The 3-speed rear hub itself is a Shimano Nexus unit that is controlled with a twist-shifter, giving the unit a low profile and a clean look. Unlike a derailleur-equipped bike, shifting can be done at a standstill, making the Zektor I3 a very easy bike to use in stop-and-go traffic. Lightweight Bontrager rims are tubeless-ready and are wrapped with 32mm Bontrager H2 Hard-Case Lite tires that boast reflective sidewalls. Managing speed in wet conditions isn't a challenge with Tektro's M285 hydraulic disc brakes. Even in rainy and sloppy conditions, disc brakes provide confident stopping power. An alloy Blendr stem can accept lights, a handlebar computer or even a cell-phone mount. A Bontrager H1 saddle and alloy SSR seatpost adds a comfy perch for long rides across the city.
