 The Trek Emonda isn't just for climbing the Alps or the Dolomites. It's at home on the hills of your own backyard, too.

Every ride you take requires ascending a hill at some point along the way. By reducing overall weight and improving pedaling efficiency, every hill is easier. Trek knew it had a high hurdle to clear with the Emonda series, but they made every model a textbook example of weight reduction done well. The Emonda S 4 was given as much attention to detail as the pro-level machines, ensuring it posessed a smooth ride for 100+ mile adventures, as well as excellent road manners. Starting with Trek's proprietary OCLV 300 Series carbon fiber, the frame of the Emonda S 4 is feather-light and impressively strong. With a tapered E2 head tube and BB86.5 bottom bracket, the Emonda S 4 boasts extraordinary torsional strength for power delivery, especially during uphill, out-of-the-saddle charges. Precise handling is another hallmark of the Emonda series, ensuring confident control on high-speed descents and in fast turns. Even the carbon fiber layup process was scrutinized for optimum ride quality, no matter the frame size. With a size range from 44cm to 62cm, that makes the Emonda S 4 an excellent fit for nearly any rider looking to enjoy long miles in the saddle. A carbon fiber fork also reduces weight and road vibration with equal measure. Speaking of sizing, the Emonda S 4's more upright H2 fit allows a wider range of riders and rider flexibilities to fit comfortably with less effort. There's even an aperture for an ANT+ DuoTrap speed/cadence sensor (sold separately) in the left chain stay.

Shimano's recently redesigned 10-speed Tiagra components adorn the Emonda S 4, ensuring excellent shifting quality and long service life. The adjustable-reach levers, derailleurs, 50/34T crankset and 11-28T cassette are all Tiagra units that wil work in concert for smooth operation. Bontrager's alloy tubeless-ready wheels are shod with 700x25c Bontrager R1 hard-Case Lite tires, bringing quick acceleration and effective grip along for every mile. Going downhill should be just as confidence-inspiring, and the Emonda S 4's stopping power is handled with a set of Shimano Tiagra caliper brakes that offer fingertip control. Bontrager's Montrose saddle sits atop an alloy Bontrager seatpost, while an alloy Bontrager Race VR-C road handlebar and an accessory-ready alloy Elite stem complete the cockpit.
