Details
This beauty was made in Chicago in May 1957. It appears to be all original with the exception of the saddle, missing front light and new whitewall tires. It does have the generator attached to the frame, but the wiring and front light are not present. The Schwinn cantilever frame (patented in 1939 - see patent drawing in photos) helps maintain the alignment of the frame as you ride and the 3 speed internally geared Sturmey Archer hub gives you smooth shifting. The bicycle also has the relatively rare Schwinn front rack!
The Schwinn Corvette model was introduced into the Schwinn line in 1954 and remained a staple of the lineup until 1964.
BIKE CONDITION:
The bicycle has only a few chips and scratches in paint, but is truly in good condition for a bike manufactured in 1957. The Schwinn logos are all present and legible, if a bit scratched and faded. The stainless steel fenders are in great shape! The chrome is in great shape on the crankset. The rear wheel has a spot of rusted and chipped chrome, but otherwise the chrome on both wheels is very nice. The handlebars, sadly, are chipping. The bicycle is free of major damage including bends and cracks.
This bicycle is ready to be ridden as is, though we recommend a thorough check by a professional bicycle mechanic before riding. After you receive this bicycle, minimal adjustments and assembly will be needed to be ready to ride.
This bicycle is being sold as is, please see photographs for details.
