Details
Schwinn made this frame in Chicago in November of 1967 for a 1968 model Fastback Sting-Ray. The Fastback Sting-Ray sported the 5 speed stick shift, 20" wheels, a bucket saddle and the new Mag sprocket. This bicycle is all original with the exception of the saddle.
The Fastback Sting-Ray was introduced in 1966 and ran through 1976. It was such a popular bike that they made a version for older/bigger kids and adults called the Manta-Ray which only ran from 1971-1972 due to low demand.
FRAME CONDITION:
This bicycle frame has some chips and scratches in paint, and is in good condition for year that is was manufactured. The frame is free of major damage including bends and cracks. The grips are discolored and cracked, and the handlebars suffered a scrape at some point. Please refer to the photographs for more details.
This bicycle has been tuned and fully overhauled right down to re-greasing and packing of the bearings (hubs, bottom bracket and headset) by a shop mechanic with many years of experience. Then the bicycle was test ridden and given a thorough eighty-three point inspection by the owner. Finally the owner rode the bicycle in every gear checking steering, braking, and shifting. After you receive this bicycle, minimal adjustments and assembly will be needed to be ready to ride.
