This auction is for a Vintage Schwinn built Mead Crusader.  Most likely from the late 1930's, this Crusader is a great looking bike.  The bike isn't in the best shape - rusted rims, worn chainring, bad tires, rough seat, rough chrome... but the bike is an excellent all original Schwinn built pre war model.
This bicycle was originally from the Schwinn Museum in Chicago.

The rear rack is missing the frame mounting plate and is slightly bowed - see pictures.  Still has the rear jewel/reflector.
Front springer fork has the Lock and Key
Front fender has the original Torpedo style light
Front wheel once had a speedometer, but the only thing left is the ring attached to the spokes.
Tank is in good shape except where the battery melted and rusted a spot on the bottom. 
Chainguard has a bend in it, but still has the original decal.
Original decals are in ok shape - both sides of the tank, chainguard, seat tube, and the downtube (this one's a little light and tough to see).
headbadge is in ok shape - needs cleaning but still has the red outlined letters

Specifications:

Seatpost - original straight post, steel

Saddle -  springer saddle, top is destroyed and will need a recover, bottom is in good shape but needs a repaint and one of the springs re-attached to the pan

Stem - original, bolt on the top of the stem clamp, flaking chrome

Handlebars - about 20" wide, braced bar (brace is bent), no chrome, no grips

Crankset - Schwinn 1 piece dogleg crank with 5 heart skiptooth chainring (chainring is worn)

Pedals - very worn block style pedals

hubs - older New Departure Model D rear coaster brake hub, front is a Schwinn script hub --- both hubs had hubshiners (still do) but it didn't protect the chrome on the front, rear is fine
rims - flat balloon tire, no paint all rust
Tires - seem to hold air but are shot.

2 serial numbers, both on the bb, one facing back and one facing forward
