Details
This is a vintage Camelback framed 28" wooden wheel bicycle. Definitely a mystery bike. No headbadge, not original paint, no decals. The rear hub is a New Departure Model D coaster brake rear hub would date it to after 1930 some time, but these hubs were very common replacements to earlier hubs. Other items like the bars, stem, and seat lean this bike to a Monark, but nothing positive.
The fenders seem original and look ok, other than the color - which there is none left. The huge rear jewel reflector would be nice if it wasn't cracked. Still there though. The fenders are stepped and not rounded. The chainguard was chrome, but no longer.
The only real unique item on this bike is the 6 pointed star chainring. Interesting.
Color is black over about 2 or 3 other colors. We believe the original color to be red or orange.
The drivetrain works, but has some rust and would be best served with an oil bath and some tlc.
The bike is definitely a project in more ways than one. With a bit of detective work and a lot of elbow grease, this could make a great classic showpiece.
