Details
This is an unrepaired Vintage 1961 Schwinn Corvette in opal blue. This bike is missing only the original front light. All else seems original. The corvette will definitely need a tune-up as all the cables are loose and out of adjustment (brakes and rear hub). Wheels are out of true but seem to be in decent condition.
This bike has been on display at our store for the last 25 years.
Definitely a rider, and with the ok paint, maybe something more. The original paint has only a few scratches.
This Corvette is missing the original front rack and handlebar mounted light, but has the Jaguar/Panther rear rack - rear rack is in excellent shape.
The paint is ok, except for the numerous scratches and wear points. The blue is very shiny. The decals are all in excellent shape except for the top tube where there are a few small scratches on either side.
Fenders are stainless steel, but still have some dents and dings along with some scratches. They still look good, but not fantastic.
The front fork has the springer option, which in 1961 was worth $4.95. The bottom (crown) of the springer fork is painted with a clay colored substance - rather thick.
Overall, with a little work, this would make a great rider.
Built on November 30, 1961, in Chicago, IL.
Serial number dates to 1960 (LO), but the model is the 1961.

Our best guess is that the bike was only ridden a little before we acquired it. Before we got it, the original owner put on the new Schwinn Westwind tires - matching. The wear on the pedals does not match how new the tires are.
Bike, overall, is in great shape and would make a great showpiece.
