Details
You are buying a unique customized Schwinn Speedster juvenile muscle bike. This bike has been nearly completely rebuilt as a slightly larger styled muscle bike from it's humble 24" wheeled Speedster origins. The frame was hand built in Chicago IL, USA in July of 1977. The original camelback steel frame and Flamboyant Red paint are still in good shape and have been retro-fitted with a new 26" wheel accepting front fork to accomodate the new 26" wheels (Schwinn Approved hubs (made in France) with Schwinn Tubular S-6 rims). The rear wheel has a solid 5 speed freewheel matched to the original crank with rubber block pedals, shifting is provided via Schwinn Approved headset mounted friction shifter. The original tourist bars have been replaced with chrome ape hanger handlebars with Schwinn teardrop grips. Braking power is provided by a Weinmann/Schwinn approved caliper brake and lever (note no rear wheel braking due the incompatibility of a 26" wheel with the 24" wheel designed frame). At some point the frame was re-stickered with Collegiate stickers (note that the Collegiate was never offered in a camelback style frame). This bicycle is ready to ride and would fit larger children or adults looking for a sweet cruiser. Please see photographs for details.
