You are buying a vintage used Schwinn Sidewinder bicycle. Hand built in Chicago in May of 1982 the Sidewinder features Schwinn signature electro-forged steel frame construction. Considered to be the little brother to the King Sting (introduced in 1981) these bikes were Schwinn first foray into the mountain bike world despite most of the original mountain bikes were conversion from earlier model year Schwinns. 1982 was the first model year the Sidewinder was offered and it came in two color options; Sierra Brown with Gold accents and anodized components or Frosty Silver with Blue accents and anodized components. This particular bike is the Sierra Brown paint scheme and although there are plenty of chips and scratches it has maintained it's original luster fairly well. The gold anodization has maintained it's depth of color over the years and does not show significant fade like many bike of this age (the only notable exception is on the braking surface of the rim where the anodization has worn off from use). This bicycle has not been tuned by our shops mechanics but has been set away as part of our shop owners personal collection, thus the higher price tag. Please see photographs for details.
