Details
You are purchasing a vintage 1962 Schwinn Varsity bicycle, made during September of that year. A perfect ride around campus, across the city or on a country road, this bike was designed to include features usually found on more expensive bikes. It includes 10 speeds controlled by dual stick gear levers mounted on the down tube and Weinmann brake levers and calipers. The front and rear derailleurs and chain ring are all Huret. An Electro-forged frame as well as a sleek black vinyl saddle give this bike high level comfort and sporty style. It comes with a bell mounted to the stem, but as nice as it looks, the lever is stuck and would need some attention to make it ring.
This bike is in the original Radiant Red color, which has suffered some abrasion - the Varsity name on the down tube is slightly obscured and the checker pattern on the seat tube is scuffed. The components are in good shape, but there is rust on the wheels. The brake cable hoses are cracked a little. The handlebars are covered in black foam grips (probably original) that have torn. The original Schwinn seat is in fine shape. There is minor cracking on the tires. Brakes are good. See photos for details.
With a tune up this bike will be ready to ride, but it's better suited to someone looking for a sharp-looking all original road bike from Schwinn's vintage years.
