This is a vintage used 1992 Schwinn Paramount Series 7 PDG OS bicycle.  This bike features quality hand made Japanese construction by Panasonic using Tange precision butted oversize steel stubes, investment cast bottom bracket and seat lug, tapered stays, flared oval seat tube, internal brake cable routing and forged Tange dropouts.  This particular model was quite unique in that it was offered in both 700c and 26" option, this bike is the 26" model.  Although as is evident now the 26" road bike never quite caught on but as production manager Dennis Lane (also a Cat II racer) stated: "I've ridden a series 7 prototype for the past two seasons...and the 26" wheels are faster in every aspect...of course there's less wind resistance with 26 (inch wheels) and they're lighter and stronger because the spokes are shorter...and the reduced gyroscopic force lets the bike change lanes quicker, making it more maneuverable...because they're smaller and weigh less, they accelerate faster.  These are all points people pick up on right away in a test ride.  But what really sells them is the first time they ride in a pack.  They can't believe it!  They're motoring along at 25 or 30mph, and they realize they're doing a lot less work-every time they jump it's an instant bike length on the nearest rider.  By the end of the race they're lifetime converts."  Although short-lived those who rode these love them to this day.  This particular model come in the "Purple Freak" paint job with a protective clear coat and is great shape with minimal aesthetic imperfections and no dents in the tubing.  Mechanically this bike is complimented by a full Shimano 600 (predecessor to Ultegra) 9 speed STI drivetrain that has been professionally tuned by one of our shops mechanics and is ready to ride once it's been re-assembled post shipping.  Please see photographs for details.
