Firestone Cruiser Balloon Tire Bicycle

This is a Vintage Firestone Cruiser balloon tire tank bike.  This Firestone has some interesting features - forward facing dropouts, skiptooth drivetrain, solid L-bend seatpost, and a few other characteristics that just don't lend itself to easy dating.

Made by J.C. Higgins.

Bike is not rideable and will need some work - wheels mainly with a couple broken spokes.  Will definitely need a total overhaul.  The Cruiser is starting to show some rust - not the frame or fork, but the accessories are starting to show that fine sheen of rust.
Rear rack has a broke stay (still attached to the dropout) and is bent.
Front light and rear rack have the same form.  Nice details.
paint is consistent on the accessories - rough to good - while the frame paint is in better condition.
Seat is in good shape and rideable, but will need to be recovered soon as there are several wear points right through the fabric.
All the chrome is in a sorry state.  The rims have been painted (sprayed) silver sometime in the past, handlebars and stem also have bad chrome.
