Free Spirit Sears Folding Bicycle
One of the first compact urban commuting bikes!
This is the "folding-esque" bicycle, built during the 1960's and 1970's in response to Raleighs RSW folding series of 16" urban commuter bikes. This model does not fold per-se but is based off of that style and platform in that the frame doesn't fold but the seat has a very unique quick adjust feature to make the size more compact and the handlebars fold over as well via a quick release lever for the same reason. At the time it was one of the first mass market American bikes to try and provide a compact urban commuter bike that would stow away in small spaces. This bike appears to still have all of the original components and although this bike hasn't been professionally tuned by one of our mechanics it is currently fully operational. Paint and decals are in ok condition and have aged along with the bike. There is some spotty corrosion on the bike and the cranks have a significant amount of surface corrosion but the frame itself is in good shape and most of the rust is aesthetic only (the exception being on the edges of the fender). Please see photographs for details on condition. This is one time capsule of a machine.
