Schwinn Built Balloon Tire Bike

More Views

This auction is for a Vintage Schwinn built balloon tire bicycle.  No known model, but it is very similar to the Schwinn built Liberty's - the bike made for Chicago Cycle supply.  This bike is missing the original front light and chainguard.  Definitely pre-war - skiptooth, clamped kickstand, forward facing dropout adjusters, larger springer leather saddle.  This bicycle was repainted at some time and pinstriped (pinstriped rather poorly with some type of tape).  Definitely rideable, but needs at least a wheel tune - rear spokes are loose.  The original saddle needs some work - especially a recover and the left side spring has broken off.  Lots of silver spray on the rims.

Seat Tube- 18"
Top Tube - 22"
Stand-over Height - 30.5"

Seatpost - skinny steel post, vertical
Saddle - Messinger Deluxe, needs work - cover is very rough and on of the side springs has broken off the main rails
Stem - 2.5" steel quick, original, decent chrome with some blems
Handlebars - 25" steel bars, needs chrome work
Crankset - Schwinn 1 piece steel cranks with the heart style skiptooth chainring - in decent shape but with silver spray
Pedals - non- matching pair - original left block pedal, very worn.  right pedal rat trap style.
hubs - New Departure hubs, coaster brake rear
rims - Drop center balloon, steel - with silver spray - spokes need work and have silver overspray on them
tires - Goodyear Speedway front tire, Allstate rear - 26 x 2.125 size, hold air, but with cracks and some rotting,

Serial #B30635
Reference #34332
